4th.. 5th..? Snow day of the year

Exercise, Psyched 2 Comments »

On Friday NYC’s schools were closed and the city was crippled up to their ankles in 8-10 inches of snow!  All roads to Noah’s day care were also rendered impassible, yet in the face of all these mounting challenges, we survived.

So Noah and I dressed in funny clothes and took a walk to Prospect Park.

Noah in the backpack, ready to go.

All the snow storms have been given nicknames lately.  The last one was called the “Snowpocalypse”.  This latest storm was dubbed the “Snownami”.  Someone on the Colbert Report had the best name so far for a storm though..  “Snowtorious B.I.G.” (for those people in NH and Kentucky, Notorious B.I.G. was an influential rapper who was tragically killed in his prime…  “rap” is an urban form of musical expression…  music is that think that comes out of the wine jug when your toothless friend blows in it…).

New Yorkers are amazing..  I saw 4 maybe 5 cross country skiers.  All of them moving slower than I was walking.

Agreed.

A corny, out of focus look at us.

Somehow our car managed to get buried again.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum

A week or so ago, before I took off to snowboard in one of the few areas on this planet where I don’t cell or internet connection, my parents were in town and we all took Noah to The Brooklyn Children’s Museum.

We started things off at the fake grocery store.

Then we laughed at some real (small) turtles.

I’m still working on phasing out these bibs, we’re almost there.

Noah’s new thing is trying to swim…

It might be fun to try to swim in, but the cork pit doesn’t taste very good.

Shake the cork pieces out.

Look at this bib…  see why he needs one?  Especially when he is having fun.

“Time to get out of here?”

Yep.

Presents and Lunch with Nana and Grampa Holt

When Noah woke up Saturday morning, KABOOM!  Nana and Grampa Holt were there.  Crazy world…  and they came bearing gifts.

Noah showing Grampa one of his favorite books.

Eventually we got ready and went out for some lunch.

Nana was cozy.

Noah was trying to nap before we even got our food, and he was nice enough to be patient while we ate it.

“Done yet?”

The new backpack is amazing.

Isaac’s Birthday Bash!

Last night was another party for one of Noah’s day care mates, Isaac.  I was worried Noah might not have as much fun because it started around dinner time…

…but he quickly forgot about being hungry.

It was at a local gym for kids and it was the first time I really got to see Noah play around on the equipment, even the stuff that was too big for him.

Isaac the birthday boy posterizing fools (no offense little girl).

Jojo and Violet, girls who also day care with Noah.

Noah laughing at a random girl staring into the corner.

Mocking random girl.

The bubble show lured the kids (and adults) into a room for pizza.

Birthday boy was into the pizza.

Sarah protected her cupcake from Noah a little better this time.

Mata with her dad and new sunglasses.

Thanks to Isaac and his parents for inviting us!!

The other day Noah got an early Valentine’s Day package from Auntie Mindy.  Such a sweet Aunt.

The walk to pick up Noah from day care getting a little brighter.

I told Noah all about Auntie Mindy’s package all the way home, so when he was done with dinner, he was ready to tear into that box.

Laughing at a photo of himself that was in there.

Socks!!!

Over the socks you have on?

Shirts, and pants!!

What else?

A book!!

A card!!

Putting them new socks away (Auntie Mindy washes everything before she sends it).

Thanks Auntie Mindy.  Very generous of you.

When fun goes foul.

Bath

Just to keep the warnings coming..  Warning!  My parents have a crazy shower/bath/jacuzzi/football watching/music listening/steaming booth in the basement which has a built in light show that is impossible to resist if you are looking for a place to photograph someone bathing (assuming you have their permission).  The warning?  You’ve probably seen this bath before, and you’ll probably see it again because Noah and I are psyched on it.

Noah’s new toy boat.

Christmas Morning!!

Big day.  Jesus Christ was born, Nana Holt was born, and someone brought us all these presents!!!  Craze.

Noah needed a quick cracker before tearing into the presents.

First one…

BOOTS!!  No more plastic bags!!

Auntie Mindy got a blanket, which is kind of like a Snuggie© but without arm holes.

Kate got a new grill pan, which she loved, but this was her expression for every present.  Genuine excitement with no hint of sarcasm. She has an amazing gift.

“This one is for you Nana.”

“This one is for you Auntie Mindy.”

Mittens!!

Mom was psyched for Noah to open this one.  What could it be?

Might as well dig in.

Puppets!!!

“Are these puppets my presents or yours?”

Nana got a new leather jacket.

The little present was for Grampa.  The big one was for Noah.

A busy morning led to an early nap.
