Visting Grampa at DHMC

Chilling, Grandparents, Travel Comments Off on Visting Grampa at DHMC

My dad, Noah’s Grandpa, had surgery last Monday up at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and after hearing that everything went well Kate, Noah, and I had to head back to NYC.  We got to head back up to DHMC on Saturday to see how Dad was doing.  Noah’s Aunt Mindy had been with Dad all week, through the tough days of helping him get mobile again and also dealing with hospital boredom.  We had the easy part of his hospital stay, plus we had Noah to keep a smile on his face.

Dad was trying to take 5 walks a day.  The walks were tiring, and the view was all too familiar, so to try and change things up we had Noah race him.

We left the hospital around 8 pm and grabbed some dinner before heading to the Upper Valley Hostel for the night.

The Park

The sun was out yesterday, and I finished working on some things while there were still a few hours of daylight left so I met Kate and Noah at the park.

Happy Birthday Aunt Mindy!!

Chilling, Grandparents, Holidays 1 Comment »

Today is Aunt Mindy’s 30th Birthday!! To celebrate we are going to go back in time…  to Sunday…  Father’s Day 2009…  Hold on…

I guess my Father’s Day gift to myself was to not take many photos, and watch golf all day.  So, in short, stop doing something I do all the time, and watch something I never do.  Whatever, there wasn’t much to do, my Dad needed to drink all this stuff to get ready for surgery, and Kate, Noah, and my Mom had left to pick up Mindy (who was on TV the other day).

When Noah and the girls got home he had a bottle with his Grampa.

Anyone know what kind of bugs these are?  They are eating everything up at my parent’s house, and it’s making Noah bummed.

On Monday my dad went in for surgery at Dartmouth Hickcock Medical Center.  We all went with him to show support.

Waiting by the computer that will tell us Dad’s status in surgery.

_MG_1890

The computer never changed, instead the doctor came out and told us that everything went well and that Dad was resting comfortably.  Everyone was relieved and knew it would be a while until we could see him so we went out for some dinner.

Nana Loves To Bathe

Grandparents, Hygiene, Psyched Comments Off on Nana Loves To Bathe

Maybe my mom thinks that we keep Noah too dirty, maybe she truly enjoys it, but either way Nana Holt loves to give Noah a bath.  They never take long, Nana is efficient and thorough, but both parties involved seem to have a good time.  The one thing I remember from her giving me baths as a kid was that she was rough when drying my hair.  At least now I realize how annoying it is to dry someone elses hair, especially as they try to crawl away.

p.s. Surgery went really well for my dad (Noah’s Grandfather) yesterday.  He is going to be in the hospital recovering for about the next week.  Thanks for everyone who sent their thoughts and prayers.
