One Year Check Up

Bummed, Doctor visits 3 Comments »

Noah had his one year check up yesterday.  It’s a big visit, if only because this is the visit where they draw blood.  Noah is now 29.5 inches tall, he weighs 18 lb 6 oz, and his head is 17.8 inches.  He’s pretty average for his height, but he is low in weight.

After all her presents were opened, and the birthday party was finished, Noah’s Auntie Mindy had to head back to Charlotte.  She is so helpful and fun to have around, and we were all bummed to see her go.

Yesterday was Noah’s actual birthday, and Kate and I thought it would be good to have just a simple little picnic in the park.  We thought it would be nice to have something easy and welcoming. With help from Noah’s Nana and Opa Urban, who are really good at and enjoy throwing fun parties, we had a picnic plan underway.  A couple of trips to a few mega grocery stores later, they helped throw a really great and bountiful party for Noah – which was located deep in the park, on a mildly humid day, with a chance of rain.  Lucky for Kate, Noah, and me, Mindy was in town and could help us drag our contribution to the party up to the park.

It felt like everyone came to the party on a bike.

So did Lou.

Kate and I met at a party Michelle (left) was having.  I was dragged to this party by Tara (right).  They take full credit for Noah being around.

One whole year

Noah turns 1 today!  Hard to believe.  It feels like he’s been with us forever, and at the same time it feels like he was born yesterday.

Noah’s Auntie Mindy came up from Charlotte to spend his birthday with him (and us).

Noah has overcome his fear of bike helmets, just in time to start wearing one in the bike seat that Nana and Grampa Holt bought him.

After opening presents and having breakfast we took a trip to the store to get some stuff for Noah’s party.

On the way home we stopped to check out the new hot dog spot that opened up.

Up north

At Noah’s birthday party up in NH on Sunday, Kate and my Uncle Gerry got to talking about me as a kid which led to Uncle Gerry hauling 4-5 photo albums over to my parents house the next morning so he could share some pictures.

Mom drag races the car, I hold the trophy, Dad fixes the car.

Kamber also came over in the morning to play with Noah for a little while.  I got lazy and just took photos from the recliner.

Last winter before my Grandfather died he ordered a ton of seeds for a garden he was going to plant.  Uncle Wayne, probably feeling pressure from above, planted the seeds this spring and what grew was a really impressive garden.  We stopped by to see if he had some leftovers.
