On Sunday up in NH people came over to my parents house for cake and ice cream to celebrate Noah’s first birthday a week early. Some people walked over, other people drove, my cousin Kevin and his 5 year old son Dillon rode their 4-wheelers. Dillon’s brother Zack is only 2, way to young to be driving…

“Auntie Coo-Coo” – Her name, not mine.

Then magically, presents start to appear.

Not avocado.

Even more gifts.

Then like that, party mission over.

On Saturday we drove up to NH to see my parents and to let my mom throw a little “git-together” for Noah’s first birthday. We got on the road a little later (and a little headache-ier then we wanted) but we made good time even with a quick little picnic of under ripe avocado and fig.

Nina had a little surprise for us. She decorated the manure spreader for Noah’s birthday.

Noah was into it.

Thanks Nina!

Trying out what will be the floor of the new garage before dinner.

From the cutting room floor, but too good to put in the trash.

This one could have gone in the trash maybe… (Photo by Dave)

I love winter, and I miss it. Summer is too hot, and the lack of snow is a bummer. Last night, after the slimiest meal for Noah yet, we got to catch a glimpse of what has become my favorite of sporting seasons… FOOTBALL!!! Patriots vs. Eagles (in a pretty useless preseason game)!!!
We are part of a CSA and though the tomatoes have been pretty tough for anyone to grow, eggplant seems to be doing really well. We have four huge eggplants right now, compared to like 4-5 small tomatoes. Noah has had eggplant before, and liked it, but last night Kate admits she might have used a little too much olive oil when roasting it.

A little time at the music table after a bath…

Then it’s game time. Unfortunately we live in a not so Patriots friendly television market, but The Charest’s have a Slingbox on their TV in Natick so we can watch local New England shows on our computers in communist NYC!!

Amanda and Jerry (who just got married to back in May) came over with their dog Luna last night. Luna and Noah were both a little indifferent to each other, but they eventually made friends.
