On Saturday Kate rallied us to drive up to Storm King, a sculpture park about an hour north of NYC. It’s an amazing place, especially on a warm Fall day without a cloud in the sky. Lunch photo by Kate. The rock wall above, by Andy Goldsworthy has great dimensions, 5 ft by 2,278 ft. If you’ve never seen “Rivers and Tides” I highly recommend it (Netflix has it). Richard Serra has three or four of these there. Noah is picking the Buddha’s nose… Noah and I were really into this Mirror Fence by Alyson Shotz. Alyson Shotz, Viewing Telescope.

Doing DumboAnimals, Art, Chilling, Exploring, Fancy, Friends, Shopping, Sleep, Theater 2 Comments »Couple Saturdays ago. Mo’ stole Noah. Roaming knife sharpener. Kate, hiding out in the drugstore. Noah hiding out while Kate shopped. Dumbo and the great new carousel. Oh hey, a gorilla… Oh hey! Derby! Savannah wasn’t into the carousel. A show. This lady, on the left, drove a nail into her nose. Real kid friendly stuff. This dude juggled knives on a rope made of toilet paper. Noah giving Savannah a graffiti tour. Then there was this. Done.

Mini West Indian Day ParadeArt, Fancy, Fashion, Holidays, Partying, Theater Comments Off on Mini West Indian Day ParadeEvery Labor Day, Brooklyn hosts The West Indian Day Parade (reluctantly for some), and the Saturday before Labor Day they hold the Children’s West Indian Day Parade. Noah missed a lot of it. It’s all good though, ’cause I had my friend record it on his iPad. Grown men DJ’ing. Parents, parenting. The parade ends behind The Brooklyn Museum where a big stage is set up for groups to perform. Savannah was into it.

After saying goodbye to my parents, we took a trip to Blue Hill, ME to see Jen and Berto who keep a place in NYC, but spend most of their time in Blue Hill. Our house tour started with the garden. This will be the new master bedroom. Berto. The view from Berto’s sister’s porch. Screened in spare bedroom. Blue Hill Library where Jen curated a show of local artists. Unfit gallery behavior. I was into this top piece is by William Thon. Back at Jen’s for a snack. Back at the house, our view during dinner.
