Rain delay

“Hey Dada I’m ready to go on the bike in the preppiest gear you could dress me in!”

“What the..?”

“Lisa! It’s raining…  …  …is that why you are doing laundry?”

“Nana!”

“Emmett!  Skateboard!”

Things were a little drier after Noah’s nap so we went to see the house where our friends The Kennedy’s were staying.

To recap we were on The Outer Banks because Anne Kennedy was/is/did get married on the beach outside the house they rented.

Anne’s niece Kate, and nephew Ryan were cooped up too I think.  They were eager to show Noah their cars…

..then they showed Noah some hermit crabs.

The ride home.

More games.

Noah and I began to go crazy.

Me, on the dune between the house we rented and The Food Lion…

…a closer look at the same photo reveals that I was trying to let everyone know that I got TWO different kinds of margarita mix so we could compare. (Photo by Katherine Holt)

The long drive to a much needed vacation

Saturday morning we made our way to the Outer Bank of NC for a week of almost nothing.  Something I was really looking forward to.  Thing was, the drive is about 12 hours with stops for Noah, food, and groceries.

Finding lunch on the road is always tough.  Getting out of the car and into the humidity can be brutal.

Nice to stretch the legs.

They sure like peanuts in Texas…

Still nasty out.

4 hours later…

Bossy.

Cute though, so one more flick from the tractor…

2 hours later…

30 min. later…

45 min. later and we’re done.

13 hours total.  NYC to Avon, NC.

Saturday a.m. with A.M. (and J.D.)

Auntie Mindy, Chilling, Eating, Shopping Comments Off on Saturday a.m. with A.M. (and J.D.)

We had a full house on Saturday morning.  Joshua had spent the night and Noah’s Aunt Mindy flew up from NC to shower Noah with books.

and mystery presents..!!..

Mindy’s newfangled iPad, great for watching videos of firetrucks.

We took a walk up to the Brooklyn Flea (market).

Joshua “dared” me to post this photo.

My hand, at the bottom, holding an open faced fresh cut prosciutto snack.  Joshua’s hand, at the top, trying to steal from me.

Inspirational art for sale.

“Noah, One piece of food at a time!”

From Joshua Noah got quesadilla, from him Mom he got grilled cheese, from Aunt Mindy hugs.

Good times.

Before drove back to RI, Joshua gave us this family portrait.

Furniture and flirting

Chilling, Eating, Shopping 3 Comments »

Saturday morning we went shopping for a few things, but then I saw a twinkle in Kate’s eye.  I’m worried about what project she is scheming up in her head.  I think it involves more counter space in the kitchen.

Lunch in Red Hook at a spot owned by someone Kate went to school with.

There was a little girl there and Noah was flirting with.  He hugged her twice (Kate says they hugged four times), both (all) times I missed it.

The Muffletta sandwich.

Noah is really into spoons lately, and he’s getting pretty good at using ’em.  Don’t be fooled by this flick though, I still think he’s right-handed.

The Farmer’s Market

Chilling, Chores, Exercise, Shopping Comments Off on The Farmer’s Market

Saturday morning at The Farmers Market at (in?, on?) Grand Army Plaza.  It was a beautiful day and you could feel that spring would be here soon.

The snow, like the dirty champ it is, was hanging tough though.

Noah and I walked around checking things out while Kate picked up the food she needed.

Noah chased some pigeons, then a squirrel.

It’s kind of hard to see the squirrel in this shot, but he’s there, on a branch in the tree.

One more “temporally” stop, then home for lunch.
